200 MPH return run

Speedweek 2017 updates

So this may be a little backwards for posting but there wasn’t much time at Bonneville for posting. We did make three passes over 200 MPH, the first two got us into the 200MPH club with a Junkyard Engine @212.746MPH. There are currently less than 700 members in this club and I’m pretty sure nobody else did it with an engine right out of the junkyard, without any internal changes, not even taking it apart and freshening it! This feat was not easy but with the Sponsor and Volunteer help we pulled it off. The inspectors were really impressed with the build as we take a lot of pride in making all of the stuff look cool, function properly and all fit in. The car will easily hit 300MPH if we can ever have a smooth surface at Bonneville to run on.

Lots of thank yous coming in next posts! Pics and videos coming!

New Inlet for Turbo

IMG_5353This is yet another one of the must see pieces on the Streamliner! David Woodruff (AKA Woody) from DesignDreams LLC http://www.designdreams.biz/index.html spent quite a bit of time designing and CFD testing to come up with this. This air inlet (NACA duct + more!!) for the turbo will make it the most efficient (and practical) way of getting the air to the turbo. This is one of the areas we feel a lot of people overlook when designing the Air intake system on performance applications.

Stewart Davis from CRP USA, LLC www.crp-usa.net (based in Mooresville NC} then took Woodys Solidworks made this very unique part.  The material is “Windform SP” a Carbon Micro-fiber reinforced polymer, produced using Additive Manufacturing via Laser. Think of it as industrial 3D printing… This is the same material used to build the Intake Manifold for the Delta Wing racing team that competed for two seasons, recording more than 12,000 race miles in the endurance series, running a turbo charger at 18lbs of boost.  Windform SP has a density of 1.1g/cc and a heat deflection temperature of 186 C (368 F) and is used in on car applications for several race series, both in the US and abroad. Please take a look up both of these companies via their websites and see their full line of products and services. Thank you very much Gentlemen for this help!
